A great neighborhood park, with a free (for Chicago residents) outdoor swimming pool, boasting up to 9-ft depth and a decent water slide. Check the schedule for their designated open swim and family times. The field house contains locker rooms, a basketball court/gym and weight room with machines and some free weights and dumbbells. Outside, plenty of open area and grass, and the playground boasts a few slides, some monkey bars and obstacle things that kids would like. Overall, a great park to check out, right near the Norwood Park Metra station

The park itself is nice and big and best of all, it is in a really great location where it does not get super packed like other Chicago Parks in more congested areas.....
The reason I am giving it 3 stars is because this park comes up as having a running track and when you look up pictures in the CPD website and what parks have running tracks...they show pictures of a rubberized running track, and this location comes up in the search as having a running track.
I live about 5 miles away so I drove here with the expectation that there was an actual running track.
To my huge disappointment, there was nothing but a dirt, pebbly, uneven, "running track" around the softball/baseball playing area....yea wont do me much good when I was hoping to do sprints etc...
If they don't have one...fine but don't list the park as having one when does not....Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Tomas A.Chicago, United States20322459Jan 18, 2019
Really nice neighborhood park, basketball courts inside and a playground outside kept very clean and safe.

My beautiful neighborhood park. Big, green, clean, perfect.
Softball fields, running track, outdoor pool, clean locker rooms, playground, basketball and tennis courts, multiple benches, nice field house, many classes offered.
My kids went to summer day camp there, were Jr. counselors there, played tee-ball/softball there and took art classes there.
Many a early summer evening was spent sitting in a folding chair or bench, watching them play and eating a treat from the ice-cream truck afterwards.
My dogs have been walked around it countless times.
And yes, my chubby butt has even jogged around it, a time or two.
On my "to-do" list still, is to watch a "Movie in the Park" on a summer evening to come soon!Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Tom Z.Chicago, United States2026241Jun 29, 2006
Very nice neighborhood park. One thing I miss is the big slide they used to have when I was a kid. Story is some punks damaged it and they never rebuilt it.
Aside from the missing big slide, it is a very nice park.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - B. L.Chicago, United States100572767Oct 6, 2005First to Review
This is another one of the great parks in our city. It is very large. It has a huge pool and fieldhouse. There are alot of activities for adults and children that are scheduled in the fieldhouse year round. There is baseball diamonds and plenty of room to have a picnic ,walk around or just hang out. There is a playlot as well.

This is one of the few parks that have special rec. day camp . I love the park, i love the people, and i am glad to have my daughter in day camp there. the guy who runs the special rec. program name is Chris and he is so good with all the special needs children and i would trust him with my daughter anytime. was sad to see Reilly go but Chris is wonderful. my daughter loves camp and looks forward to camp every year! i love this program.

Norwood park played an important part in my life when I was young!
I swam, played sports, and went to summer camp there.
Their summer camps are the best!
You would go on a field trip almost every other day and actually go to fun places.
Other days when you were not on buses going somewhere, you'd be at Norwood doing an activity created for us.
There was also a special time for us to swim, which of course was always my favorite thing to do.
When I became 14 I was a junior counselor at the camp and watched over the kids!
This was only offered to teenagers over the age of 14.
This wasn't that much fun because it was a little unorganized.
At Norwood I also played ball.
My first year, when I was really young, I played t-ball.
Then the rest were spent playing softball. Those were fun years!
I had made plenty of friends, and did really good in softball!
Norwood park is such a pleasant district and I absolutely love the so many activities it provides.
Overall, Norwood park is just a great district with its camps, sports, fitness room, tennis courts, basketball courts, roller blade court, baseball diamonds, and pool.
It is great for kids and adults!Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - L p.Elmhurst, United States08Jul 18, 2011
The pool it self is OK and clean. One staff member (not sure if she in charge of maintenance/ cleaning), is extremely RUDE!!! Treating pool goers like they are in line awaiting punishment. Then when it is time to get out of the water, she (not even the life guards) was yelling "GET OUT!! GET OUT NOW!!!!! " as if a shark was approaching. I might not go back so I won't be barked at and treated inhumane.
On weekends, they offer "youth swim", which makes no sense that parents cannot go in to watch the children.
Also, they have a no bag rule which does not apply to everyone. She picks and chooses who that applies to.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Lillian W.Franklin Park, United States2010Mar 31, 2014
I love this park! Clean and so much to do. My dog loves the dog park. The only thing I do not like is when I call no one EVER knows the pool schedule. So many times they will tell me it is a open swim and I will get there to find out there is no open swim. But other than that is is a great park one of the best around.
