Visiting from Seattle and this coffee shop was just a block from the QV and hotel coffee is not worth even brewing. Very good, very nice people. I tried a few other shops first on the main drag and found the people to be rude, odd for Victoria, must be a cafe clique. One other shop gave me flack for paying $6.70 in coin, seems like that should be a normal thing with $2 coins in circulation. No attitude at Mela, always nice and always good coffee.
Being around all the hotels, I suggest some wifi for your visitors.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Antonia W.Toronto, ON171667May 4, 2010First to Review
Just stumbled onto this place while meeting someone. I don't generally walk along Humboldt past Blanchard often so I had no idea there was such a cute little cafe here!
There is very limited seating inside aside from the barstools along the window. It's getting warmer so there were lots of umbrella'd tables outside.
They have a pretty standard coffee/tea menu. They use Silk Road tea and I tried a spin on a London Fog... but I can't quite remember what they called it! Anyway, It's like a London Fog, except they used hazelnut syrup instead of vanilla. It was really good.
The girl working at the counter was really nice and friendly. The owner was also there and very welcoming. I figured out he was the owner after I read the newspaper article they posted inside. I think they just took it over from the previous owners sometime last year.
Anyway, I'd go back or recommend it as a meeting place for coffee/tea with a friend for sure!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Suzanna Z.Los Angeles, United States112216Apr 8, 2017
Nice and quaint cafe. I had a delicious latte with soy milk. It's cozy and I suspect most people take their coffee to go. Their baked goods looked tasty but I did not try them.

My wife and I had some surprisingly well made lattes. This is a small but comfortable shop with a few tables inside and right outside. They have an assortment of delicious looking pastries, though I didn't have any on my visit (I only needed a decent cuppa joe on this visit.

My local favourite, the staff are always friendly and make an extra effort to welcome you. The ambiance is stylish, the coffee consistently good and the food is excellent. What more could you ask for in a coffee shop
The owners make an effort to be involved in the community that is building in the Humboldt valley.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
