We tried Don Julio for lunch today and it was great! The shredded chicken taco salad was huge and large enough for two meals. My husband tried the Don Julio burritos and said all the ingredients tasted very fresh. The chips are served with a bean dip rather than salsa because, much to our delight, they have a salsa bar where you can mix and match your favorite salsas to your hearts content. Our waitress was very friendly and provided fast service. On our next visit, I'll definitely be trying the tableside prepared guacamole!

Since moving to Greenville from San Diego, I've struck out at finding even decent Mexican food. Being in the food business, I ask people for recommendations all the time and get the same answer. "There isn't any good Mexican food in Greenville". Some people have a place that is passable. Last night, a friend and I decided to try Don Julios. Wow. The food was really great!
We were met at the door with a friendly smile and welcome and were sat in the bar. Our waiter, Mal, was terrific. On his recommendation I ordered the pineapple fajitas. The mixed chicken, shrimp, onions, peppers and pineapple were seasoned and cooked perfectly and served in a grilled pineapple shell. I will go back over and over for that dish. We also had a table side guacamole that was fresh and delicious.
According to Mal, the chef is working to keep his dishes as authentic as possible and using locally sourced, fresh foods as much as possible. It really shows. Everything was very flavorful and fresh tasting. The table salsa is good with the chips but I really liked the pico de gallo.
Greenville has such a wealth of great restaurants, it's been disappointing not being able to get a good Mexican meal. Now I can. Go, try it, tell your friends.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Lauri Y.Charlotte, United States1010Dec 13, 2014
Restaurant had an issue with computers being down and while disruptive it shouldn't be catastrophic. It took 15 mins for a pitcher of Sangria, an additional 30 mins to get entree. Our server continually made promises to bring salsa right out, chips right out, etc. And each time it would take 15 mins. After over an hour being in the restaurant, the manager asked how everything was - we said "not good" she then preceded to make excuses rather than take responsibility. Very disappointed in the way everything was handled.
